Details :

BQ items are fertile grounds for disputes as they usually involve huge amounts of money. A minor ambiguity may lead to millions of dollars difference in the final account. There are some interesting recent cases dealing with BQ error and re-rating under Government GCC Cl. 59(4) which may shed some lights for practitioners to think about. This talk aims to walk through the judgments in details so as to provoke a deeper thinking of the various principles and doctrines relating to BQ. Further, with the increased adoption of NEC3 standard form of contract in the construction industry, the talk will also briefly mention the importance of BQ rates under the NEC3 contracts.
