The Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance takes effect from 1 January 2016 and will apply to contracts (including construction contracts) entered into from this date.  Given the profound implications of the Ordinance, it is important to update your contracts and standard clauses now to ensure that no unexpected third party claims would arise.  Steven Yip and Samuel Cho of Minter Ellison will consider the key provisions of the Ordinance and explain how statutory third party rights might affect your contracts and construction projects.  We will also provide some drafting tips to hopefully assist you in the period leading up to the new law coming into effect and beyond.
