Hong Kong will soon be a jurisdiction with its own Security of Payment (“SOP”) legislation for resolving construction industry payment disputes, and the proposed legislations share many similar provisions with equivalent legislations in Singapore and Malaysia. The speaker will provide an overview of the statutory adjudication process, and share his experience on dealing with over 100 cases in adjudication proceedings (as party representative or adjudicator) in Singapore and Malaysia, with a particular focus on common pitfalls when making claims and defence, as well as sharing practical solutions in navigating the numerous provisions of the SOP legislation.
