Message from the GPD Chairman (October 2008)
The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (General Practice Division), Australian Property Institute, Appraisal Institute of Canada, Property Institute of New Zealand and Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (Valuation & General Practice), all members of the World Association of Valuation Organisations, are now drafting a memorandum of understanding under which a member of one of the said institutes may be admitted as a member at the equivalent level of all other institutes. It may be the first time where recognition of HKIS qualification is extended to North America.

Standard Proforma of Valuation Submission for Compensation Claims
Working Group on Professional Fees for Compensation Claims, with Stephen Yip (convenor), Rock Tsang and KK Chiu being the working group members, has on behalf of HKIS to discuss with Lands Department from time to time. With discussion and agreement with Lands Department, you are now recommended to use the "Standard Authorization / Appointment Letter" and a "Standard Proforma of Valuation Submission for Compensation Claims" which can be downloaded from HKIS web site. The use of "Standard Authorization / appointment Letter" is expected to simplify the procedures for eventual request for professional fees. The "Standard Proforma of Valuation Report for Compensation Claim" is to set a yardstick for Lands Department to determine whether a full scale fee is to be paid.

List of Firms Providing Professional Consultancy Services of General Practice Surveying
We have recently reviewed the policy and procedure for the maintenance of the List of General Practice Firms.

After a series of discussions and consultations, it is decided to formulate a new list known as "List of Firms Providing Professional Consultancy Services of General Practice Surveying" ("the List"). A copy of the guidelines for administration of the List and an application form for inclusion in the List is attached for your attention.

The List will replace the existing List of General Practice Firms with effect from 1 August 2006. If you wish to have your firm included in the List, please complete the application form and send it back to the General Practice Divisional Council at the HKIS Office, Suite 801, Jardine House, 1 Connaught Place, Central, Hong Kong before 30 June 2006.
