HKIS JO and HKIE YMC Joint CPD - Management Contracts and their Use in Macau Projects (HKIS report)

The first CPD jointly organized by HKIE YMC and HKIS JO was held on 16th January 2006 at the HKIE Seminar Room. It was a successful talk, proven by the over-subscription of the talk and the response from the attendees during the seminar.

Mr. Craig Shepherd and Mr. Kenneth Mach, Partner and Senior Associate of the Arbitration Group of the Construction and Arbitration, Herbert Smith, delivered an informative seminar which instilled the Engineers and Surveyors with the general concept and the characteristics of Construction Management and Management Contracting by comparing the difference with other existing procurement methods. Construction projects in Macau, which are hot topics in the city, were also introduced to the attendees. In the presentation, features of Macau projects which led to the application of Management Contracting and Construction Management were illustrated by the speakers.

HKIE YMC and HKIS JO are encouraged by the success of the event and committees of both institutions are investigating the possibility to organize similar joint events in the future so as to enhance the communication and sharing among the engineering and surveying professions.
