Message from QSD Chairman (January 2010)
Kung Hei Fat Choy and wishing you all a happy and healthy year of the Tiger.
The economy of Hong Kong has bounced back significantly since the 2nd quarter last year. I wish the construction industry will grow continuously together with the local economy.
2010 year plan
The first Council meeting was held on 7 January 2010. A year plan was agreed with the following key tasks:
>To arrange training and assessment for the second lot of QSD members as registered cost engineers in Mainland;
> To arrange application of registration as Cost Engineers in the Mainland for qualified members;
> To prepare for the 2014 PAQS Congress in Hong Kong and to enhance collaboration with those institutes having signed reciprocity agreements with HKIS;
> To publish standard documentation such as:maintenance contracts and practice guidelines;
> To promote the quantity surveying profession to the public and students in secondary schools and universities, and to attract young new blood to the profession; and
> To arrange training courses for fresh graduates and members.
In addition, the Quantity Surveying Division's annual dinner will be held in the 2nd quarter of this year. The dinner will provide a golden opportunity for mingling between members. You will be informed of the details once.
In order to accomplish those tasks, the subcommittees/task forces led by the respective chairpersonsor convenors have been established:
Members are cordially invited to join the subcommittees/task forces by sending an e-mail to info@hkis.org.hk.
