Details :

PAS1192 Parts 2 & 3, the predecessors of ISO19650, were considered as the guidelines for Level 2 according to the UK BIM Strategy. Many had expected the ISO19650, Level 3, would be one small step to reach. In fact, PAS1192-compliant companies or individuals find it confused when trying to move up to the ‘unfamiliar’ ISO19650. The terms Level of Details and Employer’s Information Requirements no longer appear in ISO19650. Many find that ISO19650 is not a BIM Standard, but one about information management. It is one of many reasons that UK firms are reluctant to move from PAS1192 to ISO19650. In fact, ISO19650 is guiding BIMers back to the right track of information management from the previous model-focus approach. From the definition that BIM is digital representation or process … shared knowledge … from feasibility to operation and demolition, BIM is all about exchange of digital information with or without model.

In this CPD course, Ir C K Ng will cover the following major concepts of ISO19650 :

  1. Appointment
  2. Capacity and Capability
  3. AIM and PIM
  4. Exchange Information Requirement (no more Employer’s Information Requirements)
  5. Level of Information Need (no more Level of Details)
  6. Common Data Environment (CDE)

The speaker opines that successful application of ISO19650 replies largely on the use or choice of an appropriate Common Data Environment. However, it is not easy to find one or a combination of different software to fulfill all the 13 requirements of CDE.
