Speaker : Sr Sunny CHOI
Sr Sunny CHOI is working in the Housing Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. He has over 30 years professional quantity surveying experience in technical audit, cost management and contract administration of construction and maintenance works.

Sr Choi got BIM Manager Certification of RICS in 2014 and obtained CIC Certified BIM Manager in 2019. He is the Chairman of the BIM Sub-committee and the Vice-chairman of the Quantity Surveying Division of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. He has participated in the exploration, development and promotion of BIM applications for quantity surveying works in Hong Kong since 2010.

Sr Choi strives to promote the value of BIM uses to quantity surveyors and students, and to enhance the collaboration on BIM applications among quantity surveyors and other disciplines. He is currently working on how to improve the effectiveness of digitized measurement.

The HKIS formally released the HKIS BIM Contract Conditions on 22 April 2020 for use by practitioners and stakeholders of the Hong Kong construction industry.

The HKIS BIM Contract Conditions set out the obligations, responsibilities, and liabilities of the contracting parties in a contract or agreement where BIM is applied. It can be incorporated into existing professional services appointments and construction contracts either as special conditions of contract or supplemental agreement, and can be used by the employers, lead design consultants and their sub-consultants as well as the main contractors and their sub-contractors.

Sr Choi will highlight how the HKIS BIM Contract Conditions can address the rights and liabilities arising from BIM information workflow.

The purpose of the QSD PQSL 2020 is to help QSD probationers and Associate members to enrich the basic knowledge in quantity surveying practice and prepare for the APC examinations. There shall be various series of PQSL events, namely Measurement, Procurement, Standard Form of Building Contract, Contract Administration and Specialization which cover various topics such as Measurement Techniques, Measurement of Building Works and Building Services Installations, Tendering, Report on Tenders, Variation and Post-Contract Cost Control, Payment Valuation and Final Accounts, Contractual Arrangement, Liquidated Damages and Extension of Time, Direct Loss and Expense Claims, Dispute Resolution, Liquidation and etc.
