Speaker	:	Ms Helen Au Helen is a practicing barrister in Hong Kong, specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration. She also serves public appointments, including sitting as a Member of the Board of Review (Inland Revenue Ordinance), and as a Chairperson of the Appeal Tribunal Panel (Buildings). Helen is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, teaching “Arbitration Law and Practice” to postgraduate students of the “MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution” programme.

Details	:	What are interim measures? Why are they useful in arbitrations? How do you make applications for interim measures? In this talk, Helen will provide an overview to these questions, and also briefly discuss ways to make such applications before the arbitral tribunal, and to the Hong Kong High Court. Helen will also touch upon the newly introduced Arrangement Concerning Mutual Assistance in Court-ordered Interim Measures in Aid of Arbitral Proceedings by the Courts of the Mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, which came into force on 1st October 2019.
Remarks	:	The event will be conducted online via ZOOM. Successful registrants will be notified separately via email with the web link and password in due course to the online event . 1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.
