 Among a numbers of surveying tools and equipment, crack gauge could be said as one of the handy equipment which Building Surveyors may use for conducting surveys.

Crack gauges in the market are of different sizes and made of different materials, which may not be too user friendly.  In view of this, our Building Surveying Division (BSD) has commissioned (on no fee basis) Sr David Chan to come forth with the appropriate design.  As the deliverable, a credit card size crack gauge (of approx. 54mm (W) x 86mm (L) x 0.8mm thick) is now produced which can measure crack widths ranging from 0.08mm to 2.2mm easily.

In this seminar, Sr Chan will casually cover the following topics:-
  • Traditional means of recording and/or monitoring cracks in buildings;
  • Generic quantification of crack widths for monitoring of buildings;
  • The BSD Crack Gauge (裂縫規);
  • Applications and constraints; and
  • Q&A, and sharing of experience.
Remark :

Participants will be given a “crack gauge” produced by BSD free of charge.
