The Buildings Ordinance and its subsidiary regulations provide for building safety requirements, offences and penalties. Statutory orders will be issued against the owners of the premises by the Building Authority (BA). The aggrieved persons may lodge appeal against the orders in Appeal Tribunal (Building). Prosecution of offenders is an integral part of BA’s enforcement responsibility. The seminar will focus on the control of existing buildings and the appeal mechanism in Hong Kong.
