詳情 :

After the Policy Address by the Chief Executive in 2017, the HKSAR Government and the industry leaders are committed to the use of BIM. They have assigned a lot of time and resources for making sure that the construction industry is ready for this.

While BIM is increasingly adopted in the construction industry, the quantity surveyors have been slow on the uptake compared to the other professionals. How to survive in the era of BIM? What should we do as a quantity surveyor for BIM?  These questions are becoming very timely as the change bought to the QS profession is enormous and imminent.

This presentation will review various methods of extracting information from BIM models for Quantity Take-off (QTO) both in the pre-contract and post-contract stage of a project.  Then the practical issues and constraints faced by QS in the implementation with examples on variation assessment, interim payment and cash flow forecast will be investigated.  Finally, some approaches and ideas for quantity surveyors that need to accept the new mindset and philosophy of BIM and other technologies that come with it will be proposed.
