What to Bring and Wear

1. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. NO slippers/flip flops or sandals.

2. Wear appropriate, comfortable clothing for the weather.

3. Wear a hat / bring sun screen and bug spray.

Use of Rubbish Bags

1. Use SEPARATE garbage bags for clean, good condition and empty plastic bottles and metal cans for recycling and another bag for others

· Do not throw away natural items (driftwood and sticks, shells, dead fish, seaweed, etc.).

· Shake excess sand off of rubbish before throwing it away

· Don't tie the bags; bring them to the designated bag collection point.

· Large items do not need to be put in bags. Bring to bag collection point.

· Be careful when emptying out bottles of liquid. If you are certain of the contents (water in a water bottle, orange liquid in a Fanta bottle) empty, squeeze, replace lid and recycle. If not, leave liquid inside and throw in the black garbage bag. Don’t empty out chemicals or cleaning agents.

· The recyclables will be taken to a recycling bin. They won't be collected from the beach.

Do’s

1. Always use gloves to pick up things. Be conscious of what you are touching. If it is sharp, rusty or you are concerned about what it might be, take care when touching or leave it.

2. Carefully remove broken glass, fishing hooks, syringes and other sharp objects. Place them somewhere safe for disposal (i.e. a box or bottle where they won’t be accidentally touched – PFS has a container). Children shouldn’t handle the above items – inform an adult.

Don’ts

  1. Do not disturb the wild life.
  2. Leave No Trace! Don’t leave anything on the beach that wasn’t there before you arrived. (Don’t add to the litter!)
  3. Don't remove shells from the beach. They could be future homes for sea animals.
