There is always a strong tie among land surveying professionals in Guangdong Province, Macau and Hong Kong in sharing the latest surveying technologies and practices. It is decided to hold a technical seminar in the Sanshui District of Foshan City of Guangdong Province.

 

We shall focus on the “三舊改造” of the old cities and related issues affecting surveyors in the trade. We shall also take the opportunity to have the first hand knowledge on the latest GPS system using the BeiDou (COMPASS) Navigation Satellite System (北斗衛星導航系統). The seminar will be held in late July of this year. Please keep note the latest updates of the seminar from us.

 

The land boundary issue is always hot in Hong Kong in particular for cases in the rural New Territories due to the inherited land boundary record originated from the DD Survey of NT in early 1900. HKIS supports the Government the enactment of legislation for determination of land boundaries, in order to administer the leased and un-leased land, control land use and formulate policies for planning and land development. It is essential for the Government to carry out its duties with certainty of land boundaries.

 

We also support the Government to establish a cadastre system in Hong Kong in order to facilitate the public and other professionals to access of relevant land boundary information.

 

A series of CPDs in the coming months will be organized to discuss the issues from different perspectives by various professional land surveyors with extensive experience in land boundary survey of Hong Kong.
