Inauguration of the HKU Surveying Society
The inauguration ceremony of FLARE (Students’ Society of the Surveying Students of HKU) was held on 27 March. Our Honorary Treasurer, Chris Mook, and Committee Member, Rock Man, joined the ceremony and delivered a speech on “Current Trends in the Surveying Profession”.
Let’s Build Our Home: See You and CY
On 29 March, I attended the discussion forum, “Let’s Build Our Homes: See You and CY,” at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong. Over 200 young professionals joined the event and discussed with the Chief Executive some hot topics such
as housing, planning, and property development in Hong Kong.
HKIA Sports Day and Family Day
Fourteen young and energetic YSG members represented the HKIS at the HKIA Sports Day. We joined the tug-of-war and 4x25m steeplechase relay. Although we didn’t win the matches, the morale of our members was high and they look forward to participating in the competition again.
The One-Day Seminar on Contract Management – By Sr Rex Ying
The One-Day Seminar on Contract Management was successfully held on 26 April.
We were honoured to have experienced speakers from different professions come share their experiences in and insights on contract management with us. As knowledge is the essence of contract management, an informed surveyor can clearly and fairly assign different roles, risks, and responsibilities to the stakeholders of a contract. This also helps minimise risk and disputes further down the line.
30th Anniversary Basketball Cup
The competition will start on 25 May 2014 at Tsing Yi Sports Centre. In Group A, The reigning Champion “Outsider” will host “Basketeer”.
"RLB" will face "Langon & Seah" who are the 1st runner up and the 2nd runner-up of last year competition. In Group B, “ES-Guys” will host “籃人30” and “Buildings Department will host Swett (China) Ltd”. We have set up a website for this event where you can find the updated information, schedule and statistics of players.
