The 2013 HKIS Building Surveying and Eddie Lee Memorial Education Foundation Scholarship for Secondary School Students
I am delighted to announce that five scholars of the Class of 2013 have been able to pursue their undergraduate studies in surveying at local universities and, thus, are eligible for the second stage award. They are:

The Ministry of Commerce’s pilot arrangements for supervision duties by Hong Kong Consultants on aided foreign projects (香港顧問諮詢企業試點承擔援外施工監理任務)
On 20 August, the SVP, Sr Vincent Ho, together with some BS firms and representatives, held a meeting with the MoC regarding the above activity. A general consensus was reached on the matter and the MoC proposed a memorandum of understanding to be signed by all concerned parties on 4 September. The ExCom is reviewing the details.
The 2015 HKIS Building Surveyor Awards
The OC met with the PR consultant on 25 August and decided that nominations for the awards will be accepted until the end of March 2015. Divided into three different categories (i.e., new building works, mayor A&A and renovation works, and maintenance & repair works), the awards intend to recognise outstanding projects led by our BS members, commend their contributions, inform the public of their expertise, and promote good BS practices.
The awards presentation is tentatively scheduled for 18 June 2015. More details will be announced later.
Meeting with the China International Contractors Association (中國對外承包工程商會)
Due to the suggestion of the MoC, the HKIS’s Mainland Affairs Committee visited Beijing on 20 August to meet with representatives of the CICA. Sr Nathan LEE and Sr Edgar LI represented the BSD and started a dialogue with a view towards future cooperation, in particular working together on overseas projects. Thanks go to Nathan and Edgar for their hard work in this regard.
Crack Gauge (裂縫規)
As reported in the June issue, the BSD crack gauges are now ready for our BS members’ collection and purchase, if needed. Due to delays in their production, they could not be delivered on time, thereby denying us a chance to distribute them during a CPD talk by the BSD’s Past Chairman cum spokesperson, Sr David CHAN. Please present your duly signed coupon to collect your gauges at HKIS office.

我們很高興有 5 位獲得 2013 年香港測量師學會建築測量組暨李樹城紀念教育基金獎學金的同學將就讀本港大學的測量學課程，並就此他們將獲得第二階段的獎學金，而 2014 年獎學金的同學提名將於 10 月 31 日截止。最近，建築測量組的會員曾與內地商務部開會就香港顧問諮詢企業試點承擔援外施工監理任務的某些事項達成一般共識，並將於 9 月 4 日簽署合作備忘錄，本會執行委員會正審議有關的細節。另外，本會的內地事務委員會於 8 月 20 日到訪北京與中國對外承包工程商會會晤，建築測量組亦有派代表參與，為未來跨境的合作展開會談。2015 年香港測量師學會建築測量師獎的提名將於下年 3 月底截止，獎項組別分為新建樓宇工程、大型加建及改建及翻新工程和保養及維修工程三類，暫定於 2015年 6 月 18 日頒發獎項。最後，建築測量組的會員現可憑券到學會辦工室索取裂縫規。
