Although this year has almost come to an end, the YSG still works hard on introducing different functions for its members. Our biggest event each year, the YSG Study Tour was successfully held on 17th to 19th October 2014. With many new faces, we would like to firstly appreciate the young members’ generous support to the event.
During that weekend trip, we invited the Qianhai Shenzhen and Hong Kong Modern Service Institute of Coordination to introduce the prospects for the surveying profession in this new development area in Shenzhen. We also visited Vanke Architectural Reserch Centre, where teams of experts have been working hard on ways to build pleasing and healthy homes for their customers. It is also the demonstration base for vertical greening research in China where research has been carried out to identify the different types of plants for vertical greening to suit the various types of environment in China.
Apart from construction related projects, we also visited two projects which has been affecting our daily life very much- he Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station and the East River-Shenzhen Jinhu Pumping Station. These two projects allowed us to have a close look of how our electricity is generated and transmitted and how our water is delivered to Hong Kong.
Although the visit only lasted for 3 days, members on the tour learned a lot and truly enjoy the trip. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sr Jeff Chan and Sr Simon Wong for their hard work in organizing this tour. I would also like to thank Sr Lesly Lam for arranging the visit to the Vanke Architetual Reserch centre.

The YSG Annual Dinner will be held on 22 November 2014, 19:00 at 2/F Crystal Balroom, The Cityview, 23 Waterloo Road, Kowloon. The theme of the dinner is Cartoon Character. Seats are limited so please reserve your seats as soon as possible to enjoy a memorable dinner with us.
YSG Annual General Meeting
The YSG Annual General Meeting will be held on 25 November 2014, 7:00pm in Room 1207, Surveyors Learning Centre. If you want to know more what we have done in the past year and what we will be doing in the next year, please attend the meeting as we will have a year-end report and conduct an election of YSG committee for the coming year.
Cycling Tour to Nam Sang Wai
Although the AGM will be held in November, we would like to continue to organize CPDs and social events. A cross-institute cycling tour to Nam Shan Wai will be held on 7 December 2014 for members from HKIS, HKIE, CiArB, CBSE, ICE and Law Society. Please join this tour if you enjoy cycling and would like to meet more friends from other professional institutes.
