Details :

Jeff Tung is a distinguished architect currently holding the position of Head of Special Projects - Project Management at New World Development Company Limited (NWD). He also serves as the Senior Project Director - Special Projects (Design) at New World China Land Limited. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jeff also serves as a Director for Culture for Tomorrow, a non-profit organization founded by Adrian Cheng in 2017. Culture for Tomorrow holds the mission to empower Hong Kong's rising cultural changemakers and foster their creativity.

Jeff is a Registered Architect and a Fellow Member of Hong Kong Institute of Architects. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1985 and has been working in the building industry for almost 40 years. His extensive experience spans the realms of planning, design and project management of mixed-use, commercial and hotel projects both in Hong Kong and the Mainland China.

Jeff has overseen special projects of NWD including the remodeling of New World Centre into Victoria Dockside, and the rejuvenation of Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront in Hong Kong. He is currently managing the conservation project of the State Theatre in North Point, Hong Kong.  The State Theatre is the city's last surviving large-scale theatre and currently a Grade I listed historic building.  After a brief closure in 1997, it was renovated into a billiard hall in 2000, before its closure in 2020.  In October 2020, New World Development announced a meticulous conservation project to restore the Grade I historic site. The iconic structure of the State Theatre will be conserved, and the revitalised building will be transformed into a new landmark for culture and arts in the form of a multi-purpose premier performance venue.

In this event, Jeff will take the participants back in time to revisit the history and the cultural significance of the State Theatre. He will share with us on the visions of the project, the progress of the conservation works, and he will also touch upon the challenges he faces in this project.
