Sr Jacqueline Leung is a speaker of the PAQS Congress 2023. She is a qualified quantity surveyor with solid experience in contract advice, construction claims and quantity surveying. She has been involved in alternative dispute resolution and cases in the arbitration tribunals and the High Court. Before practising in the quantity surveying field, Sr Leung had been trained in topographic surveying, mapping and civil engineering surveying. She has been conducting research related to sustainable construction and carbon emission.

Sr Sasa Zhang is a speaker of the PAQS Congress 2023. She has extensive experience in quantity surveying, project planning and claims management. In addition to the construction contracts and claims advisory, she has been participated in delay analysis, project planning and programming for projects in construction and engineering fields. Sr Zhang has been involved in the area of environmental, social and corporate governance. Her research areas are sustainable building and carbon assessment.

The Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) is an international association representing quantity surveyors in the Asia and Western Pacific region. HKIS is one of the members of PAQS. The PAQS Congress 2023 will be held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 22 – 26 September 2023 with the theme “Decarbonising the Future – the Role of QS”.

In this sharing, the speakers will summarise the findings and recommendations of the research paper titled “An Expanding Role of Quantity Surveyor Practice in Carbon Efficiency” by presenting the QS’s cognition on decarbonization and how QS contributes to the assessment of the embodied carbon emission of construction.

***Registration priority for the free seats will be given to QSD full-time degree student members. Please send an email stating the programme you are studying, with a soft copy of your University Student ID card to HKIS Secretariat ([email protected]) for verification.

The event will be conducted online via ZOOM. Upon successful payment of the registration fee, the ZOOM link for joining the CPD event will be available in the CPD/PQSL profile under the "Member Area" of the HKIS website.

On-line registration is not applicable for non-HKIS members. To register, please complete the CPD registration form (https://www.hkis.org.hk/en/pdf/Standard_Reservation_Form2020.pdf) and return with payment to the HKIS Secretariat.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.

1.	I confirm that I fully understand and accept the risk of joining the above visit. Under no circumstances shall The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors ("HKIS"), their staff or agents be held liable for the consequence of any accidents whether or not they are caused by the negligence of the HKIS, their staff and/or agents.
2.	Members participating in the above visit shall be in good health condition.
3.	While the HKIS has arranged Group Personal Accident insurance for members joining the above visit, members who have been accepted for joining the above visit can consider procuring an appropriate insurance policy to cover their own risks before attending the event.
4.	Claims related to COVID-19 and/or pandemics are excluded under the insurance policy procured by the HKIS.
