講師	:	Ir Dr Roger SO Barrister-at-Law, Accredited Meditator and Chartered Engineer Dr Roger So is a Barrister-at-Law, Chartered Engineer, an experienced mediator, an arbitrator and an adjudicator. He is also a Fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators. Prior to becoming a barrister, he has over 20 years of engineering and project management experience specializing in the design and construction of infrastructure projects in Hong Kong and overseas. Dr So has a broad civil and criminal practice, including general commercial disputes, shareholders disputes, building management disputes, IP disputes, property disputes, matrimonial and family disputes, personal injuries disputes, construction disputes, etc. He has served as the legal advisor to a Disciplinary Tribunal. He is currently the counsel in a number of litigations some of which are concerning with construction / building management / water seepage disputes. Dr So has delivered over twenty CPD seminars accredited by the Law Society of Hong Kong and/or the HKMAAL, and is a regular contributor to the Building Management Journal [物業管理天下].

詳情	:	Building Management Disputes, in particular water seepage disputes are very common among occupiers in a multi-storey building, especially for aged buildings. The occurrence of water seepage in a flat will no doubt cause much inconvenience and interference to the quiet enjoyment of the occupiers and may even cause distress to them. Yet the resolution of water seepage disputes would quite often involve complicated factual and legal issues as well as upsetting relation with neighbours. This poses some challenges to the parties' representatives as well as the third party neutral. This seminar will deal with the legal and technical aspects of water seepage claims, with a brief mention on the relationship aspect.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.

Under no circumstances shall The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors ("HKIS"), their staff or agents be held liable for the consequence of any accidents whether or not they are caused by the negligence of the HKIS, their staff and/or agents.

3.	While the HKIS has arranged Group Personal Accident insurance for members joining the above visit, members who have been accepted for joining the above visit can consider procuring an appropriate insurance policy to cover their own risks before attending the event.
4.	Claims related to COVID-19 and/or pandemics are excluded under the insurance policy procured by the HKIS.
