As a forensic accountant, Sr Benny K B Kwok has produced numerous expert reports and has given his verbal expert evidence in tribunals, arbitrations, disciplinary proceedings, the District Court and the High Court. His professional experience is broadly based, both in the private and public sectors, and in Hong Kong and the UK, comprising the Big-4 CPA firms, the British Government and Santander Bank.
Sr Benny K B Kwok is the author of Forensic Accountancy (1st & 2nd Editions) published by LexisNexis, Accounting Irregularities in Financial Statements published by Gower Publishing UK and Financial Analysis in Hong Kong (1st & 2nd Editions) published by The Chinese University of Hong Kong Press. Over the past two decades, he served on the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal (Legal Practitioners Ordinance), the Obscene Articles Tribunal (Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance), the Board of Review (Inland Revenue Ordinance) and 8 committees of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Sr Benny K B Kwok is currently a member of the Disciplinary Panel (Professional Accountants Ordinance) and the honorary auditor of HKU Law Alumni Charity Ltd and Kowloon Hospital Alumni Society.

Many aspects in forensic accountancy have evolved since Sr Benny K B Kwok first attended the High Court as an expert witness 20 years ago. Forensic accountants render litigation support and expert opinion in various types of contentious cases covering accounting irregularities, commercial crimes, directors’ wrongdoings, shareholders’ deadlocks, business valuation, construction disputes, land resumptions, personal injuries, matrimonial breakdowns, professional negligence and breach of contracts.

Whether it is a dispute, fraud, compliance issue or regulatory investigation, problems often spiral out of control and cause severe damages. Failure to appreciate the scope and expertise of forensic accountancy can cost owners, contractors, financiers, facilities managers and other stakeholders billions of dollars and even their liberty.

This webinar seeks to give an overview of forensic accountancy and the extent to which forensic accountants can help surveyors in litigation and dispute resolution.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.

Under no circumstances shall The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors ("HKIS"), their staff or agents be held liable for the consequence of any accidents whether or not they are caused by the negligence of the HKIS, their staff and/or agents.

3.	While the HKIS has arranged Group Personal Accident insurance for members joining the above visit, members who have been accepted for joining the above visit can consider procuring an appropriate insurance policy to cover their own risks before attending the event.
