Sr Prof. Wong received his PhD in Remote Sensing and GIS from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2009. He was a Fulbright scholar at the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center of the University of Maryland, College Park in 2006. Prof. Wong has established a strong connection in his research areas and is leading a number of research projects (including CRF, GRF, HKJC, etc.) on the use of Remote Sensing on Urban Heat Island Effect, Vegetation and Ecosystems, Aerosol Retrieval, Water Quality Monitoring; GIS in Smart City Tree Management; and iBeacon technology for engaging Learning experiences. He received numerous awards, including the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (Geneva Inventions Expo) Gold Medal 2021, and 2021 Smart 50 (Smart Cities Connect).

Dr SHI Guoqiang
BEng, MEng, PhD
Research Assistant Professor, Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr. Guoqiang Shi received his PhD in Earth System and GeoInformation Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2019. He was a visiting PhD scholar with the Department of Earth and Planetary Science, University of California-Berkeley from 2018 to 2019. Dr. Shi’s research interests include interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) remote sensing for urban geohazards monitoring and modelling, urban geophysics (groundwater, coastal reclamation; landslides, built environment), and infrastructure health diagnosis. He is currently working on slope instability assessment in the forested and mountainous regions of Hong Kong, and the Greater Bay Area of China.

詳情 :

Remote sensing has emerged as an indispensable technique for monitoring Earth's surface and capturing the dynamics of land cover through a diverse imagery encompassing various modes, geometries, spectral ranges, and frequencies. In this talk, we offer a contemporary review of the cutting-edge remote sensing techniques (both optical and radar imagery) employed for land cover and ground change detections. By showcasing the latest advancements, we delve into the remarkable applications of satellite imagery in tracking changes on land cover and ground in Hong Kong; and it could support the further development for urban planning, disaster management, and environmental conservation.
