BIM Technical-Sharing Session with HKIBIM Members on the MIR
On 10 February, the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling (HKIBIM) invited QSD Chairman Sr Sunny Choi to present the new BIM measurement information requirements (MIR) to its members. Sunny took this opportunity to explain the background of preparing the MIR and introduce its key features. He stressed that the MIR could serve two main purposes: (1) as an effective reference when communicating with designers and modellers on the model information that quantity surveyors want and (2) as a guide for fellow QSs to perform BIM quantity takeoffs (QTOs).
Sunny invited the HKIBIM to collaborate with quantity surveyors to reap the maximum value from BIM models, as well as support the QSD in the digitalisation of QS works.
